Rama and Shinta Shadow Puppet with Quilled Batik Pattern

 Sri Rama and Dewi Shinta

In the Ramayana classical story, Shinta was Rama's wife. She was kidnapped and locked up by Rahwana, a gigantic king.

She was released by her husband with the help of Hanuman, the white monkey.

To prove that she was still a virgin, Rama granted her request to burn herself, but the fire did not harm her, hence proving her innocence.

Sri Rama is a symbol of a loving husband, and Dewi Shinta is a symbol of faithfulness and honor.
